This camel festival simply puts color to its every emotion as it is undoubtedly the largest camel fair of the world. Located at a distance of about 11 km from Ajmer, the city of Pushkar is popular among tourists from all over the world as it is the only place that houses the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. The true beauty of the place lies in beautiful hills that surrounded the city from three sides.

Overview

This five day fair is organized from Kartik Ekadashi to Kartik Poornima as per the Hindu calendar (October / November). The city witnesses maximum crowd from October to March. People believe that a holy dip in the Pushkar Lake and paying obeisance at the Brahma temple can wash away all their sins of a lifetime.

Attractions

o Matka phod competition, moustache competition, and bridal competition make the environment livelier.

o From the past few years, a cricket match is also being organized between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists.

o Women in colourful outfits can be seen near the stalls to buy bracelets, clothes, textiles and fabrics.

o Camel races are the key elements of the festival that are followed by traditional music & dance performances, and exhibitions.

Native people gather at the fair to trade their animals or to set up their stalls. The place doesn’t sleep for the entire fair of five days.
